pipal paints

At work I met an Indian man who was in the states for business. During his stay we spoke about his culture back home in India. We discussed his choice for being vegetarian, the cuisines his wife makes in their kitchen, and all the languages his children are learning in school. I was informed on many facts that I didn't know about his motherland. He was also interested in some of ours. The man noticed that all our staff was bilingual. He questioned our nationalities and asked if we were all Mexican because we all spoke Spanish. I must admit the question caused a smirk on my face as I attempted to explain that Spanish is a language spoken in the Caribbean Islands, Central and South America, as well as countries in Europe. He was well satisfied with my explanation and at the end of our conversation he told me he had something for me.

The Indian man, who's name I have regretfully forgotten, rushed to his room and bought down what from a distance looked like a very thin peace of paper with a drawing on it. He explained it to be an oil paining on a real Pipal leaf.

The Heat Grinch that stole X-mas

So Im loving this wonderful city I live in, but I must admit, this time of year sucks. It cant get any crappier then waiting an entire year for a winter breeze. This year, the Holiday Spirit is nowhere to be found and I blame the weather for it. It almost seems impossible to find this winter household holiday spirit when its 80° outside. Its nothing like winter. This December wont be like previous ones, homeowners are saving big bucks on their FPL bills because hardly anyone is putting up Christmas lights or trees for that matter. I put mine up on Christmas Eve and didnt even light it up on Christmas, that's how sick this is. The only purpose it seems to have is as some kind of chewing toy for my puppy.

And oh what a pity when you have to wear summer shorts on a ''winter'' day. I absolutely LOVE winter clothes. Everything from mittens to gloves, scarves, hats, coats and boots. I was so excited a couple weeks ago when we recieved a blessing from the meteorologist and had a cold front, yes, a sorry ass cold front. It lasted a good week or so, during the time I bought myself this cute XOXO coat at our former Burdines, Macy's.

I got the trench on sale, dropped from $80. My friend Vanessa and I walked into the Department store for some straight out of psychology class, stress relieving, spur of the moment shopping. While Vane was looking at some of XOXO's fabulous sweaters, this coat winked at me. Thinking the weather would stay at minimal sixties for the rest of the year, we both grabbed one. Vane's is a beautiful bright red and mine a majestic royal blue. We love this Euro looking trench but too bad we wont be wearing it this year.

My Greeting

Hello people, or shall I say as my next door neighbors do, qué volá asere? Living in Little Havana, you're bound to here it and have it slip out your tongue at least once. Its the Cuban way of greeting your ''Dog'' or ''Homie'' and asking ''what's up?'' Its quite catchy, or maybe Ive heard it so often it stuck. The point is, its the name of this new blog spot of mine. You're welcomed to read if you like, its here, and I mean, if you can read, why not? If you hate me, the ''why not'' reason may be because this page will probably consist of a whole bunch of random and pointless ''crap''. However, if you love me, you'll read because I say ''why not?'' and not to mention, you'll remind yourself, ''all this useless crap is what I love about Yvonne''.
